Smilax since its foundation was born as a free and progressive school, trying from the beginning to apply the most current methodologies and trends, while always training on the basic techniques of the florist's trade.

It is also the first school to enter virtual training in 2012, by creating the first formation courses in e-learning methodology (online) or tele-training.

It currently has a wide range of formation courses in this specialty, in which students from different countries participate.

Also over time we have had agreements for formation both with employers (PIMEC, Florists Guild of Catalonia and AEFI) and trade unions (CC. OO and UGT).

Currently we are part of the formation group of PIMEC (Small and Medium Enterprises of Catalonia) with which we carry out various continuing education courses for florists fully subsidized. At the same time we have had an agreement with the City Council of Vilassar de Mar through which we have made Occupational Formation, making certificates of professionalism of different levels, with official title.

Smilax since its foundation had its classrooms in Vilassar de Mar, within the enclosure of the Market of the flower and ornamental plant of Catalonia. Nowadays we have three classrooms equipped to give formation to different groups of students and specialties. We also have classrooms in different places in Catalonia such as Vic (Barcelona), Santa Coloma de Farners (Girona) Reus (Tarragona) and Lleida.

Since its founding, Smilax has given courses, seminars, demonstrations and other activities in:

Andalucía, Aragón, Astúrias, Baleares, Cantabria, Castilla y León, Castilla la Mancha, Comunidad Valenciana, Euskadi, Extremadura, Galicia, Navarra, Madrid and Murcia.

And also in: Portugal (Lisbon, Porto and Faro), Italy (Brescia, Florence i Genoa), France (Lion), Russia (Sant Petersburg, Ekaterinbourg i Novosibirsk) Lithuania (Kaunas i Siluva) Croatia (Umago), Canada (Montreal) i Andorra.

Our School is part of the International Landart Movement, having participated in different Landart Festivals such as those of: Basel, Achdwild i Grindelwald (Suïssa), Quebec i Sant Jean sur Richelieu (Canada), Nida, Palanga i Kaunas (Lithuania), Pordenone (Italy), Poland and Russia.

In this field the school has organized different Landart courses such as those in Rascafría (Madrid), Cudillero (Asturias) Sierra de Aralar (Navarra) Montseny (Catalonia).

He has also organized and directed the International Landart of Zaragoza.

Currently we continue to improve our course offerings and adapt them to new trends. We are deepening in the design of on-line courses, a trend that has come to stay, as well as we continue to grow in our national and international collaborations, always with the same goal: to help new florists to grow as such and to support existing ones as much as we can.
